Overview
CareMi is a digital platform focused on supporting Alzheimer’s caregivers. By offering essential tools and resources, CareMi helps caregivers manage their responsibilities more efficiently. With a focus on accessibility and affordability, CareMi utilizes AI and telemedicine to enhance both the caregiving experience and patient well-being.

Our strategy incorporated features such as AI-assisted task management, incentivized training programs, and a supportive community network, focusing on usability and caregiver needs. The result was a user-centered platform designed to address the unique challenges of caregiving, leveraging technology to enhance daily tasks and reduce stress.

My role included leading the design system creation, ensuring consistent visual and functional elements, and prioritizing user needs through collaborative team efforts. This project showcased my ability to align technical solutions with human-centered design, delivering a meaningful impact for caregivers globally.My Role

An AI-powered platform providing personalized tools, training, and community support to ease the challenges faced by Alzheimer’s caregivers.






Context

With millions affected by Alzheimer’s and unpaid caregiving, the growing costs and emotional strain call for urgent support solutions.

With nearly 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and over 11 million providing unpaid care, the rising costs and emotional burden highlight an urgent need for innovative caregiver support solutions.


The Problem

Caregivers struggle with heavy responsibilities, limited resources, and emotional stress, often without adequate support.

Caregivers face overwhelming challenges, from balancing responsibilities and accessing resources to managing emotional stress, often without sufficient support systems.


Research

How might we support Alzheimer’s caregivers in managing stress and accessing resources to improve their well-being?

Through extensive 20+ user interviews, 300+ surveys, 5+ on-site visits, and competitive analysis, we identified key challenges faced by caregivers, including emotional stress, inefficient task management, and a lack of accessible resources, providing a foundation for targeted design solutions.

Features

CareMi integrates patient management, support resources, community connection, and incentivization into a seamless all-in-one platform designed to reduce caregiver stress and improve care quality.

Easily manage to-do lists,  notes,  and medications with an AI assistant.

Get access to mental health support,  financial help,  news,  training courses, etc.

Connect others,  share stories and attend events within the local care community.

Earn credits and achievements with verified training courses to redeem attractive products.

Prototype

Design and validate whether the solution addresses the users' needs, wants, and pain points.


After creating the low-fi design, we held co-creation workshops with both family and professional caregivers to better understand whether our design addressed their needs, wants, and pain points. 

We then iterated on the design based on user feedback regarding item placement, information hierarchy, wording, and clarity.
Design System

Building a cohesive experience through CareMi’s variable design system

CareMi’s design system ensures clarity, consistency, and ease for caregivers. High-fidelity prototypes feature intuitive navigation, accessible typography, and calming colors, all refined through caregiver feedback to create an empathetic, seamless experience.
